AP Panchayat Election 2021 Phase 2 Polling Live Updates: According to latest reports, Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP candidates are leading on majority of seats while TDP is reported to be a distant second. As per reports, YCP backed candidates have won 522 Sarpanch seats while TDP backed candidates have so far bagged only 21 seats. In Srikakulam district, YCP won 41 seats, while opposition parties failed to open an account here. In Vijayanagar, YCP won 64, TDP 2 and others 3 seats. YCP won 22 in Visakhapatnam, 16 in East Godavari district and 15 in West Godavari. A total of 81.61 per cent polling has been recorded in the second phase Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Election today. Highest voters turnout was recorded in Prakasam at 86.93 per cent. Krishna district recorded 84.12%, Guntur 85.51%, Prakasam 86.93%, Nellore 78.04%, Chittoor 77.20%, Kadapa 80.47%, Kurnool 80.76%, Anantapur 84.65%, P.Go 81.75%. The counting of votes are already underway and the results will be pouring in soon. Polling for the second phase has concluded peacefully at most places as minor scuffles were reported between political party supports at some places. In the second phase, elections were to be held for a total of 33,570 ward member posts. Of these, 12,604 ward members have already been elected unanimously. So, the polls are being held to decide the fate of 20,817 ward members. In the second phase, as many as 2,786 panchayats are up for grabs. As many as 7,507 candidates are fighting for sarpanch posts and 44,876 are in fray for ward members. The panchayat elections began from February 9 and would go on till February 21 in four phases. The first phase of election was held on February 9.

Today, polling began from 6.30 AM and concluded at 3.30 pm. The elections were to be held for 3,328 Panchayat sarpanchs, but 539 have already been elected unanimously and no nomination was filed for three villages. The elections are being held using ballot paper. Totally, 29,304 polling stations have been set up out of which 5,480 have been identified as sensitive and 4,181 hypersensitive. All necessary precautions are in place as per COVID-19 protocols amid tight security and PPE kits will be provided to infected voters.
