BSE Sensex, and Nifty 50 were trading at record high levels on Friday. BSE Sensex claimed 55,000, and the Nifty 50 index topped 16,430 levels. M&M, Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), ICICI Bank, L&T, ITC, TCS, Nestle India, HCL Tech, Axis Bank were top Sensex gainers. On the flip side, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation of India, Tata Steel, Dr. Reddy’s Sun Pharma were among the top BSE Sensex losers. According to official data released on Thursday, retail inflation eased to 5.59 percent in July, mainly due to softening food prices. Based on inflation, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 6.26 percent in June and 6.73 percent in July 2020. In June, industrial production surged by 13.6 percent due to a low-base effect and good manufacturing, mining, and power sectors, but the output remained below the pre-pandemic level.
